ABOUT STEEL DRILLING

Water Well Installation

Our Installation Process

In the first phase of our well installation process, the air rotary drilling rigs and equipment act like a "hammer drill," pounding the earth as the hammer and bit are driven and rotated into the rock. This fractures the stone and exposes the water seams while simultaneously removing the broken rock using high pressure air. Our dependable drilling rigs and reliable equipment allow us to minimize disruption to residences and ensure a timely installation.

The second phase is to drill to bedrock to install casing and grout. The amount of casing required is dictated by ground conditions. At a minimum, Steel Drilling will install 40 feet of casing. We will then grout the annular space, which is any open area surrounding the casing. Sufficient casing and grout are both essential in minimizing the potential for surface water infiltration. For more information about our casing and grouting services, and the risk of surface water infiltration, please visit our Casing and Grouting page.

The third phase of our installation process is to drill into the bedrock until we find water sufficient enough to meet your household needs. The amount of drilling required is also dictated by ground conditions.

In the final phase, we'll need to install pumps, pressure tanks, and water lines. Please visit our Pumps and Pressure Tanks page for more information.
